Friday Casual vs. Australia Fashion

Friday Greens

What a Friday morning! This morning, I woke up at 7am, even though I only have one IE class per week on Tuesday. I was too tired to drag myself out of the bed, hence I continued lying on the bed for another half hour. It’s summer now, and I do aware that today’s weather is going to be about 32 degree Celsius, however, my body was fully wrapped around by my comfy comforter, thanks to the crazy weather which made me freezing to death this morning in Melbourne.

I quickly got out of my bed to get ready for a meeting with my IE client at 8am. I usually take an hour to get ready, but this morning I was quick and only took half hour before I left home and headed to uni. When I reached library, Harsha and Alan were there waiting for me. Library was totally empty, I knew that nobody is going to get up this early in this summery holidays, especially when it is going to be extremely hot today.

We got ourselves a table and started unpacking our laptops. Everyone was well-prepared for the client meeting. Alan is really a cool guy, and he undoubtedly finishes the whole Administrator System alone (we have to create two systems, one is for administrator, the other is for client which I am doing it at the moment). It was a pretty quick meeting we have today and an easy one. 10 minutes later, Merilyn, our client, has shown up. She is kind and always smiling, I am really lucky to have her as our client. Alan showed the system to her after she had settled down, while I was configuring an autorun CD for her.

The meeting went successfully well as, of course, we wanted it to be.

Fashion Industries in Australia

Everyone went off later together. I followed Harsha to his workplace – David Jones, Southland, Westfield – as he needs to pretend as a walk-in customer to exchange his steam mop – a gift from David Jones – to a cordless phone. After that, I walked around Southland with a brown singlet with a blue checked shirt on top, light brown khakis shorts, a pair of dark green slippers, a backpack as well as a plastic bag from David Jones on my right hand. Walking around inside Southland, passing by many boutiques and I think my casual fashion sense is not too bad at all, at least I think so.

I have been staying here since late February this year, culture shock is inevitable, really. I spent 3 months to get over it, even though I considered myself is easily adaptable to any situation. The men’s fashion industries in Australia are somewhat similar to the fashion industries in Malaysia and Singapore. People from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam mix themselves well with Australian culture, whereas for people from Hong Kong, they always have their own fashion sense, just like people from Japan and Korea.

Living in Australia is like living in a mini world, you get to see all sort of cultures if only you know how to get to certain areas as certain areas are always occupied by a certain races. My closet still needs to be filled up with more clothes, only then, I can be considered as flexible.

Right now, I am sitting at Starbuck blogging while waiting for Harsha to send me back home later. Here he is, gotta go.

Holidays versus Summer!!!

Summer is approaching. I am sitting at home, thinking of the departure of my friends is approaching too. Thinking of my friends, leaving me one by one, feeling a bit sad is indeed. I always do aware of nobody will stay with somebody forever, but I have only tasted this feeling this year.

I could be extrovert or introvert at times, the interval time is about once every 2 years, I will change from extrovert to introvert for every 2 years and vice versa. Things have been changing lately around me, I have learnt to take things easy and be ready to let go anything I am holding, it might sound a bit cruel and heartless to my audience, but this is how life plays me, hence I play on and move on and live on then go on.

It’s been 7 months since my attachment with this current loved one. Study a person is a real pain in the ass, I have been trying and constantly, aggressively talking to my loved one, just trying to getting a deeper understanding of how my loved one thinks sometimes. Talk less, but more hidden feelings from my loved one who can sometimes drives me crazy just to guess what exactly in life my loved one wants.

A few recent cases which happened to my close ones whom can shake me with their shocking actions in their life, but I’ve learnt how to deal with them and get over them as fast as possible.

Come back to my summer course, which starts on Tuesday which was on my birthday too. I just wish I can smoothly get through this summer and I will be fine. While everyone is having their holidays, I am forced to continue my course, as previous information has been given wrongly from my college’s counsellor, therefore, I will have to spend one more semester just to get my bachelor degree, that’s such a sad case.

Quick update!

A quick update of what I have been doing lately since my last post.

Exam is finally over since Wednesday; I am released and been lazy. Every time when I think of IE (Industrial Experience) project which is the thing gives me headache, hence the laziness present.

Initially, I’ve confirmed my flight on 30th Dec to go back to Malaysia. A few days ago, MAS airlines the one and only office in Melbourne gave me a call and said my name on the waiting list for the flight on 20th Dec has been confirmed, therefore, I can go back earlier; I am so excited and looking forward to this trip back home.

I’ve been away from home for almost 8 months, and I think it’s time for me go back. I can’t wait to see the changes of my hometown as well as my capital city.

Ultimate Defences!!!

Lately, I have been encountering the existence of spyware installed in my local machine. It is annoying to see those pop-ups. Pop-ups is fine, I just have to close it, worse comes to worse, I have uncovered 2 spywares installed in my laptop.

The Guardian Angels
I have been using Spybot – Search & Destroy, and SpywareBlaster, and Google Toolbar. All three of the programs mentioned above do not do their job properly, probably those companies have not even realised the threats on going on the World Wide Web, hence the latest patches could not detect those spywares.

The Hope
When I realised these programs are losing their defences to my laptop, I decided to try AdAware. AdAware searches my laptop and displays the result that I wanted, but it could not remove them, how ironic.

The Ultimate
My final hope – Zone Alarm finally does its job before I carry on to format my harddisk again. I know it is recommended to format regularly, but exams are approaching, I cannot afford to spend times formatting my harddisk, when I can use the time to study.

Old Injury Haunts Me Again

Wednesday brought me back to the old time when I was in Malaysia. The over-confident side of me made the biggest fun out of me again. As usual, I went to workout on Wednesday after I have rested a week. It is always cool to have a week break after a few months’ efforts of training. I started my new routine at the beginning of this week, and found the routines are quite useful. First to exercise the abs, then to workout the whole body. Problem slowly arose when I just started my whole body workout set. I sprained my left wrist!!! Ouchy!!! I know.

Immediately I came back and took a shower, I kept using hot water to sprinkle around my left wrist, it did help release to pain no doubt. I rested for the whole day and I applied some cream in the night.

Thursday, the pain didn’t seem to go away of course, so I searched through my own knowledge base (my head) to get to an answer. Got it! I followed the advice that I obtained from a knowledgeable friend. Firstly, use hot water to sprinkle around my left wrist for 5 mins, then rest my left forearm in the ice water for a few mins too, but I left my left hand for about 15 – 20 mins. Hahahaha!!!! I totally forgot my hand while reading news online. I was too focus.

Retrieved my left hand from the icy water, instantly I couldn’t feel my left hand anymore, guess it’s been sort of frozen. It took me 10 mins later to feel it, that was scary. I felt better after that. I never failed massaging my left wrist, and I learnt the skill from a physio therapist back home.

Friday, unsurprisingly, I have been using the wrist support to wrap around my left wrist, I went to the city early in the morning just to book air ticket. It’s all fully booked, and now I am on the waiting list for the day of 20th Dec 1004. Despite it all, I’ve confirmed my flight on 30th Dec 2004 anyway.

When I reached city on Friday morning, I searched around my way to Nauru House for Malaysia Airlines office. Before I stepped in, there were so many people standing in front of the building, I thought another protest was going on again. They were just smoking and mucking around. Walked in to the building from Collins St. and made a left turn to the lift. I couldn’t find the 15th floor button, so I decided to get out from 14th floor and use the staircase to walk up one floor, but the 14th floor button has no respond. That lift stopped at 14th floor by itself, I thought I have super natural power. Bah, it was actually some people from the 14th floor wanted to go up to the upper floor. I was lucky anyway.

Found my way to the exit door, walked in and one floor up, the moment I attempted to open the door, I was stuck, the door handle was locked. So I read the sign which says only 14th and 30th floor has intercom, which allows you to get out. I walked down one floor, but the door was locked from my side too. Helplessly, I pressed the intercom button.

The operator said, “Anything I can help you?”

“Yeah! I am stuck outside the emergency door, can you send someone to open it?” I explained myself and asked for help.

“Sure, but we’ll have to check your identity sir, we’ll send someone to open the door in a few minutes.” He said.

“Thank you very much.” I sounded foolishly.

I almost suffocated in there, it’s so hot and lacked of air. Someone opened the door a few minutes later.

“What happened, gentleman?” the security guard asked.

“I am actually going to Malaysia Airlines office to make my booking, I thought I could use the staircase to walk up one floor since I am at 14th floor now” I replied and he pointed at the sign on the door ‘Do not enter as it can’t be opened from inside’

“Yeah sure, but do you have your passport with you to prove your identity?”

I handed my passport to him, “let’s have a look”, he’s checking my look against my photo in the passport, “alright, you just have to go use one floor with this lift”, he said to me and walked away.

“Sorry to bother you…”

“Don’t mention”

This is how I found my way to get my booking done. What a shame!

Over exhausted!!! Emergency!!! Red Light!!!

This is a quick update over the past few days.

Back to my casual life since the departure of my parents. I have been staying independently away from home for almost 4 years, the freedom I have requires high principle from me. I am always being proud of the way I was brought up by my parents. They were strict but in a kind way, sound silly? I know.

Saturday afternoon, my parents and I were relaxingly sitting at the food court in Crown building. My dad made a moderate speech but crucial. I then realised, home education is ever going, and parents teach their children when they think their children are mature enough to handle the facts. I will ever bear that speech in mind.

I watched Alien Vs. Predator (AVP) with M on Sunday. Despite the story line, the costumes, the ancient Egyptian culture, and the technologies are merit a watch. M said, AVP explains how pyramids were built, although the story wasn’t too great, the imaginative was still there. We went shopping after the movie, and then we went off together. I was having IE meeting at 7pm at Uni, I did some quality check for the whole night while helping Harsha (my group leader) for his assignment. I got home around 1am and continued the quality check. I slept at 3am, what a relief after I have done the quality check.

Monday, I wasn’t quite productive. I went to Uni mainly to help Harsha with his assignment while I was doing nothing from 3pm! I went to gym at 7am. I had a protein bar before gym as I was too hungry. I have rested a while before I started my new routine. I supposed to do 3 circuit sets, but I could only achieve 2 circuit sets before my exhaustion. I felt that my body wasn’t responding to my wills anymore, this is when I decided to walked home. I went to Coles to get salad for my dinner and a chicken breast for today’s lunch. On my way back, I felt like a zombie walking on the street. I was floating and dragging at the same time, what a weird feeling. I knew I must reach home as soon as possible before I past out.

I took a shower immediately and had my dinner; I felt an instant recovery like I was alive (from death) again. I did my laundry before bed.

Terrific week I have here for a study break!

My parents came all the way from Malaysia to visit me, I am stuttered for certain. It’s been almost a week since my last update, I hope isn’t too long.

I brought my parents around the Melbourne for appetizing food. My father is a Chinese-oriented guy, he pretty much eats only rice and adapts very much to the lifestyle in Malaysia. This time, I was in shock for his brave for proposing eating western food to me.

Café Corretto, at 225-227 Lygon Street, specialises in making pasta which is rich and luscious in gravy. 22 years of age, this is the first time I saw my father truly enjoy western food this much, I was glad.

Ballarat for Sovereign Hill and Wildlife Park was the only day tour we have gone for. As my parents are getting weaker, their health has firstly taken into account, secondly is their interest. I never expected Chinese tents could be found on Sovereign Hill. There was a Chinese temple which only got my father really excited in the Chinese tents. There, you get to see people dress in 1850s walking around the town, this sort of transform the time back in 1850s. Some of the buildings there like Blacksmiths, Chinese tents have been there since 1850s, and they have been well maintained till now, how spectacular it is.

La Porchetta has the greatest and finest pizza I ever tasted. Have it compared to Domino and Pizza Hut, La Porchetta scores the highest.

Max Brenner, yes again, this time was my second time. My mum loves strawberry and chocolate, so I decided to bring her there to have Strawberry Dip which costs only AUD6.50.

I just got back from a dinner with my ex-classmate in high school after I have sent my parents off just now. I am exhausted.
